Obviously Pete it would be better if I could practice what I preach, I only go on what I read over at Bodybuilding.com from all the Scivation sponsored athletes, which there are now quite a number of.

The Sciavation guide sounds good of course, and I would most likely follow something similar to that if I didn't have someone guiding me!

from a powerlifter

You know what... I didn't actually think shit like this was flying around.  It confused me when people were saying there was a bodybuilder vs. powerlifter thing going on.

However, it reminded me of what the mentalities was like years ago.  But as the years of training goes on, you realise that you reach a level of lifting maturity.

Powerlifters are fat, bodybuilders are weak... It's not the case really?  There are 'fat' bodybuilders out there and there are weak powerlifters out there.  At the end of the day, we've all got the common goal... Of bettering ourselves.

And if someone has advice to offer to another about how they can better themselves, then that guy can take the advice and decide for him/her self if they want to use it.

Don't f ucking tell someone they don't know shit because they lift a piece of metal a different way... That's not only insulting his preferance of sport but his intelligence.

And yes I question the mentality of bodybuilders, because I actually want to know why they do things.  I wouldn't be offended at all if someone asked me why i'd put on a little extra bodyfat just to lift more.

Grow up.

Benji,

My thoughts exactly. Hear, hear for critical thinking and scientific inquiry. Down with arguments from authority (e.g. "well, I don't care what you think - so and so reckons I should do xyz, and he's hoooge!"), ad hominem attacks (e.g. "what would you know - you're just a #%$^&"), and false dichotomies (the whole "powerlifters and bodybuilders are completely different" BS).

Cheers

well, tubs, you are indeed a good critical thinker. Appeals to autority, ad hominem thinking 'disrespecting the persons argument, based on the person, not the evidence' & false delema argument, where either 1 or the other is right, which is in fact the false delema', has shown that such mature thinking is alive & well on the board. I'm glad the straw man arguement hasn't been used here before, cos that drives me insane!

I sodium load then deplete, also drink distilled water the last 2 days
I also carb deplete (tuna and brocili)... yum then carb up on white rice, potato, rice cakes with honey, and oats
Last time I competed was flat for the pre-judging then nice and full for the night show so going to try a few more carbs this year. My coach told me to drink coke and also eat chips last year before the night show! It seemed to work ok
