what the hell kind of show is it if they are hiring him for the guestpose
Who wouldn't want a pro guest posing at a show? No dout he may have a distended stomach to some extent, but he may allso be breathing in when these pix were taken! Remembering all the idiots in the media going on about how Grant Hacket was out of shape not long ago after a photo of him emerging from the water with his gut out! Its not as if he was breathing deep after swimming a friggin million miles!!

Guys I have to agree with NIN - the reason I posted teh pic was to show that you needed to stay on top of your breathing when on stage.

I think, like Taz was pointing out, that when on stage you have to be ultra careful not to relax your stomach, distended gut is not from just HGH use it comes with muscle maturity, even guys with the smallest waist if they relaxed thier stomach it would distend to some extent, most guys are very professional .....when on stage they stay tight. Here's a shot of Ronnie and Jay both with hanging guts - this is why it's so important to keep control of your gut when on stage

Yeah I agree, you can find pics of many big guys like that, but Marcus Haley does it a lot and silly thing is he does it when he dead smack in front of people, yeah everyone relaxes when their back is to the judges but damn he is facing evryone smiling lol. Who wouldn't want a pro guest posing at a show? NIN I see ya point but honestly, PRO's are a "Dime a Dozen" around the World, I doubt if anyone here was to be 100% honest, that Marcus Haley would even come to mind, let alone would even be in anyones top 10 wish list to see. Which I can't read his mind, but I think is what Peanut meant. There are pro's and there are "PRO'S".............it's actually amazing how many guys are IFBB pro's that we don't even know or even her of.

The same could be said for Australian pro's like Neil Gardiner, Luke Wood and JonDavie. I have no doubt that Americans couldnt give a rats ass about seeing these guys guest post, however we are thrilled to see them at our local shows. Haley may not be the best in the world but good on him for supporting an ametuer show and doing a guest pose.. As for his GH gut.. who cares? Lets see some of you guys get up on stage so i can criticise your every flaw..

LMAO guess you miss bodybuilding mate? But tell me this and I've read it many times, how is any different then you Powerlifter watching a clip of a Strongman competitor lift more then the powerlifter can deadlift and they say "Oh but his form is crap" or "oh in a comp that wouldn't count". If your gonna come out and say it like you have there is fack all difference, the guy is stronger therefore better so get over it......clearly we are able to look at people that are some what better then us and judge what our eyes see, NOT MANY judges that judge, say the Mr Olympia have actually won it, so by your rule, they have no right to judge them? Us guys put ourselves out to be critiqued as do they all when we post a pic on the net or enter a show, it's the name of the game being judged by whom ever sees you.. Good on him supporting what? DID HE DO IT FOR FREE? It's making a living for these guys when they guest pose, not charity. ............and I hear Luke Wood does quite well over there in the Guest Posing business. As for the GH gut, he/we must care if your going to be judged or marked down on it eh? It's not like he's in the gym with it hanging over a lifting belt, his on stage in trunks. ON a final point I don't need to judge Haley as not a top 10 choice, his placings in "GOOD" comps reflect this.

lol - this has got to be a classic thread derail - go back and read the start - I said when you are on stage make sure you hold your gut in because if you don't some happy snapper will get you on film This isn't about how bad his gut is - everyone's gut looks bad when it's full of air. It's a practical tip for those who are competing - sheesh!!

I never see these examples... Powerlifting is a sport where you don't try to bring another lifter down. Seems to be this weird mentality in bodybuilding where anyone can critique the shit out of someone in a real negative way without doing anything themselves? (I'm speaking generally, not directed at you, Pumba). Comes off as bitchiness. The guy has a gut, so what? He's a better bodybuilder than i'll ever be.

Mate it's the Australian way - check out the amount of armchair critics who sit in their lounge rooms each weekend watching the box yelling at the guys running around on the field with all the advice in the world when they could never hope to do anything near what the players are doing. I think we all get a little sick of the senseless stuff that goes on on many forums especially when you have no way of knowing if the fella on the other end of the keyboard is a pencil neck who's never touched a weight in his life and is still wet behind the ears. BUT THE POINT OF THIS THREAD WAS TO POINT OUT WHY IT'S IMPORTANT TO KEEP YOUR GUT IN WHEN POSING ON A STAGE NOT TO START CRITIQUING HIS PHYSIQUE CHILL OUT PEOPLE

It's a funny thing, bodybuilding being so bloody subjective. Unfortunately, it really comes down to the essence of what it is - a contest based on looks. Adding further fuel to the fire is that people's taste change so much, on any given day a guy can win due to size, conditioning, symmetry or other factors that I don't really understand. Bitching is part of the territory like it or not. I kinda agree with both sides here, the guy is still an awesome BB'er so getting on stage to guest pose anywhere is a privilege. Then again, as bodybuilding is purely based on appearance (and conditioning is such a big part of this) his look is kinda sloppy. My bet is if you had been there he would have looked great, probably just a few bad breaths that the photographer took advantage of. Must say, powerlifting is great in that a lot of bullshit is kinda cut out. If your competitor out lifts you then what can you say apart from shake his hand. Boxing, though a great love of mine can frustrate me to tears at times, as of course judges decisions can be very controversial due to the subjective nature of it.

Well put BIOFLEX, as usual lol. This is directed at both sides here, I'm sick of this bodybuilding vs powerlifting mentality that keeps being thrown in with sarcasm when it's convenient in the middle of threads, and it's always a bodybuilding thread. The jokes and niggles, yeah sure it's funny and it happens, but outright cheap shots, I'm not into. If you can't come into a thread without stating your hatred for bodybuilding and just post your argument without being disrespectful of the efforts that others put in. It's simple go elsewhere, as a bodybuilding/powerlifting board and community, I'm sure we're over the shit by now.
