June MOTM - Cassady Mailhot

Name: Cassady Mailhot
Nickname: Massady, The Kid, B-Moc, the Rig
DOB: 16/09/1990
Birthplace: Noosa heads, Queensland
Currently Lives At: Snug, Tasmania
Height: 182cm
Weight: >92kgs
Marital Status: Single Bitches!!
Family: Mother, Father, 21yr old sister, 27yr old brother (also other extended family on mainland and also in canada)

Pets: 1 Grey hound named gracy, Small chuawa named Pippy(nick name- Stumpy) shes my little bodybuilding dog.

Occupation: Current student for Australian institute of personal training, Part time laborer

Hobbies and interests outside gym: Love everything to do with music, can play drums, guitar. Played guitar since i was a small tacker and bought a new drum kit about 18 months ago. I also love to Fish when i can and really enjoy the sea life like going surfing and body boarding and snorkeling. I used to play state golf for tasmania and ranked 11th out of tassie male golfers but gave it in for the time being. Came 1st in the National skills challenge in 2007 for junior golfers of australia and also won quite afew trophies over the years.

Started training in: Lifted Weights for the first time in 1988, after about 5 months at age 16 and weighing 73kg I benched 91kg for one rep and thought I was a GOD!!! ha ha ha ha ha
Didn't really start looking at Bodybuilding as a sporting option till about 3-4 yrs ago, have had some lengthy breaks due to either injury, lazyness/lack of motivation and heavy work load due to employment.

Reason for starting training: I started to exercise when i was in year 10 in sports class when i was at a weight you would never see at a high school level of 106 kgs. Fat fat fat. no muscle just all lard. I had a sudden realization i needed to do something with my weight problem so i got my sports teacher to smash me under some weights but that didnt stick for long..... Then i joined a gym in 2007 ( sanctuary health club) where i met Luke Fuller, a champion, and a great mate of mine now days! He got me into lifting weights and the whole sense. Losing around 28 kgs or somethign is started to build a base in an offseason to where i was convinced to compete in teenage 2008 IFBB tassie comp and here we are now... Smashing weights down at the uni Gym, old school place it is and love it.

Effects training has had on your life: Changed everything. The way i take each day, the way i look at myself, sometimes in self belief, sometimes in total denial. But all in all im living the best life i could imagine for myself compared to how i used to live. I love learning nutrition and smashing the weights and getting known for just that. Its a good feeling when people ask you for advice everyday! My parents hate me eating so much but deap down they understand why and what my goals are. Its made me look at life like this: everyday has a purpose and is special and should take everday like a blessing, take every meal as your last meal and love what your doing, no time for stuffing round if your wanting resuts!

Gym currently training at: Uni gym, sandybay

Physiques you admire: Straight up Ronny Rockel and Branch warren.

Favourite bodybuilder: Always been Jay cutler, his nutritional plans are just freakish and i love reading about them. His view on training and dieting is great and always enjoyed watching his DVDs.

Best bodyparts: hmmm... Probably hamstrings. But atm my chest is growing faster than anything. For arms have always been out of proportion being bigger.

Short term goal (training wise): Diet down for a ANB comp in march 2010.
Long term goal: Get as big as i can without getting to obese. Push myself as hard as i can and place top 5.

Exercise everybody should do: Bench!

Favourite Exercise: Ezy bar Bicep curls!

Least Favourite Exercise: Ab related!

Favourtie way to relax: With a Magizine lying on my bed listening to favorite tunes and eating a Block of chocolate.. or just hanging out with mate watching Dvds eating huge amounts of food.

Favourite music to train to:Everything hard and pumping music to rev me up for lifting!!

Favourite food: The classic Suvlaki mate! can't get any better around the block polishing it off with a packet of mintBIZcuits!
Favourite treat food: Jam filled donuts and Ice cream!

Nutritional supplements you use: Bioflex and Bulknutrients! only way to go for your supp needs!

Favourite tv shows: Scrubs and anything medical. 24. Family guy rocks. anythign thats funny and interesting

Favourite movies: the one and only STEP BROTHERS! and  ACE VENTURA PET DETECTIVE!

Favourite actor and actress: Jim Carey
Favourite music to relax to: COG

Favourite place to eat out: Sandy bay woodfire pizzas or Casino Buffet

How you stay focused and motivated: Just keep reminding myself its not as hard as your making it out to be and that anyone can do it better than im doing it atm. I think of all the national level teen bodybuilders and how they'd eat and train and i try and do it better!!

Training partners: Ive trained with Aust afew times and we did train together for months when we were doing contest prep but fades off after a little while.

Hints or tips you'd like to pass on: Im only new to all of it but i've learnt to just keep it simple and straight forward and just to shut up and do it instead of talking it up and not actually proceeding to do it!

Advice you'd offer to anyone beginning bodybuilding: Eat as clean as you can.

What other avenue of sport you would have pursued if not for bodybuilding: Professional golf. its still a big option atm!

Who has helped you in your sport/career (eg close friends or training partners etc): Luke fuller, he's helped every step and at any time. He's a really knowledgeable guy and anyone that gets help off him with most likely succeed! he's done everything for me.

How do you think the ordinary man on the street views bodybuilding: I'm unsure how they view it all. But most of my mates bag it but when they see end results and gains they all shut up because yes theyd give anything to be dedicated like i am. I think most of the community see bodybuuilding as a drug bath and everyone cheats..

Also please include a typical training split along with sets reps and a typical workout for said training splits
training split:

I train to failure and lift as much as possible leaving nothing behind for the next set. It seems to be working good atm. Ill set 4 or 5 sets per exercise and about 4 or 5 exercises per body part! Sometimes go for heavy weights for 1 or 2 reps!

Disappointments - eg injuries setbacks in preparations etc:
Disappointments: Not being able to Place in the top 3 in my first comp.. thats the only thing that got me down.

Best Lifts: Squat 110X10 kg, Bench Press 110X2 kg, Deadlift 140x7 kg.

Great write up mate!

But LOL at your max weights Grin the way you've written them up looks like you lift 10 kg for your squat, 2 kg for bench and 7 kg for your deads. However I must say that doing 110 reps is mind boggling even at those light weight Cheesy Cheesy

I'll fix it for you soon Wink

Mailhot, you are a very strong and determined young man.  Have you ever considered doing a powerlifting comp just to test yourself?  I reckon you would do well in both bb and pl.

Im in it to try and gain as much as i can but also get stronger in the process. The base i've got and building on is all ive got so im trying to thicken up and make the most of what time i have. also keeping bf in sight of course. I lift heavier and train harder and longer when all meals are clean and rice and oates are my only carb sources. But thanks mate. See what i can lift in the next while and see where im at around september Smiley

I see a conflict in the dates...

91kg bench @ 16 @ 73kg is pretty impressive.

Nice write up Cass. I have said for a while (well at least since you competed) that achieving stage condition is one thing, but doing so from your starting point is awesome!
One of the best true transformations that I have seen, no doubt thanks 90% to your fantastic dedication.

Great to see you are a music fan too, didn't realise this. We'll have to have a jam one day.
