Peanut it's interesting that Toney has made significant improvements in the last year whilst following a keto diet with many saying that his form in the last 6 months has been the best it's ever been. Toney himself has attributed his improvements to the keto diet he's currently on.

Good read btw

Great post Taz, I may have to think about the involvement of insulin in muscle development after reading that.

I did note however, that the shake consisted of carbohyrates alone, not a mix of carbohydrates and protein, as is most commonly recommened in PWO shakes.

True - the point of the study was to debunk the myth that all calories are created equal. A calorie is a unit of energy and should be equal whether it's a calorie of protein or a calorie of carbohydrate. This study shows that this isn't the case. Where does this come in handy for the BB - I'd imagine when dieting for a show and working out their calorific base and how much to drop it by.

I also like the idea of increasing protein consumption and seeing a drop in bodyfat - I think there's more going on than meets the eye here

Bengi re acidosis I was listening to an interesting podcast by Dr John Berardi on this very topic only recently and he had some interesting things to say about it. He said the body is very good at regulating it's own acidity/alkalinity due to the fact that we die if it doesn't but he did say we can help it along and depending on our diet we can add certain foods that help balance things. Mineral depletion is a common side effect of high acidosis so a good supplement should always be part of your diet.

Oh ya true that. I just meant it more as an example of some things he had to do to get the size before he started dabbling with palumbo and the fine tuning to push him further towards the top.

Bump...

Good thread good read. Good times ha.

"Read Steffanson's book, "Not By Bread Alone." He lived with the Eskimos for 18 years on meat and fat only!"

Fish, seal, whale, caribou, polar bear, walrus, blackberries, blueberries, cloudberries, geese, ptarmigan, clams, mussels, just to name a few.
Eskimos ate a large variety of sea animals. Such as Whale, herring, and seal. They would eat the skin and freeze it for later use, or bake it in herbs to add flavor. They also ate carribou, fox(when available) and a large variety of alaskan birds.

Think I'll stick with the fish and blueberries Taz.
