well gents (and ladies). ive be MIA for a while now. most of you don't know. i underwent surgery 2 weeks ago to reattach 270 degrees of my labral in my left shoulder. its only been 2 weeks and im starting to get an itch to hit the weights. ive been given strict instructions, only legs for the time being and only legs where i don't have to load up my back/shoulders (ie no squats)
so lets play the name a leg exercise I can do.
ill start. donkey calf raise. 90 degree leg press (can't use my left hand to unhook the regular hero press)

Hi Saggas
Sorry to hear about your situation! Hope the recovery will be a quick one!
Why not try high rep bodyweight squats? When you say about loading up back and shoulders I assume that means even just holding heavy objects also, but if it doesn't I was also going to suggest dumbell squats?

Mate - as you know i have had a full shoulder reco so i believe i can help you here.
Whatever your itch is - even legs, i wouldnt push it. Its easy to stress your joint even training legs. I would stick to riding bike for at least 6 weeks (but more likely 10) and then re-evaluate. Its going to be a long path to getting better but you have zero choice so suck it up.
I did not even do physio as i wanted mine to heal naturally without pushing for a speedy recovery. So in total i had 9 months off before i walked into a gym. As a result now i am able to compete again and my shoulders are improved on before. It will likely never be as good as it was but you will be able to train again at some point. Just no need to rush

Yeh had a flaring issue before due to nerve damage in shoulders. Its now also concerned by muscles in my upper back contracting, i get them released periodically and it seems to come right for a few weeks then after some hard training it comes back.
I have had a long list of injuries over a long period of time in sports. I always pushed really hard to come back coz thats my style. The shoulder injury was really bad - the surgeon (who also did Layton Hewit's hip) said it was the worst one he'd ever seen. So i thought for once im going to just chill and let it heal. I didnt want to go too hard to early so thought it best to leave it alone.

intersting. mine was the worst cart tear these guys had seen and they work on the wallabies. perhaps recovery will be different. since the muscle isnt torn. just the cart. research shows 6-8 weeks for the cart to reattach to the bone. but i do hear you on the taking it easy. did leg press yesterday and at only 200kgs i could feel the strain through other body parts.....

If you're going to break something might as well do a good job of it!!
